CIHR celebrates CHILD

CHILD is proud to be featured as an Institute achievement by CIHR’s Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (IHDCYH).

To celebrate its first 25 years of existence, the Institute is highlighting on its website some of the research it has supported since its founding in 2000, with CHILD among the projects featured.

The profile of CHILD on the CIHR website currently includes brief summaries of five major CHILD research findings, representing only a small sampling of the findings generated to date from CHILD data.

CHILD was launched in 2008 with base funding of $12M, comprised of $6M each from CIHR and the Allergy, Genes and Environment Network of Centres of Excellence (AllerGen NCE).

Beyond this base funding, the Study has received continuing support from CIHR in the form of individual project and team grants to explore specific research questions. These grants are awarded competitively based on the merits of each application. Total CIHR grant funding awarded to support CHILD research to date is in excess of $35M.

CHILD’s work to improve the health of children across Canada has been made possible through CIHR’s longstanding support, and we are forever grateful for their partnership.

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is a federal agency responsible for funding health and medical research in Canada.
